Group Packaging Technologist

(Maternity Cover for 12 months, ideally commencing around 1^st December 2022)

This temporary position will focus on developing innovative packaging solutions across our full range of products ensuring that the company is fully utilising emerging packaging technology.

In the role you will be responsible for:-

• Delivering a range of packaging projects to support Dale Farm’s innovative packaging solutions for NPD, optimisation and sustainability projects and ensuring that they meet the needs of the supply chain as well as the consumer
• Managing the packaging process including running of packaging trials, maintenance of traceability reports and leading stakeholder communication
• Approval & maintenance of packaging specifications actively challenging supplier specifications
• Ensuring all Dale Farm packaging is safe and legal requirement for packaging are fulfilled such as plastic tax, packaging returns
• Support delivery of Dale Farm Sustainability strategy by delivery Packaging improvements
• Monitoring the quality of our finished products and packaging to ensure it meets Dale Farm quality standards

You will be an integral member of the procurement team and work cross functionally across the business engaging with commercial, finance, production and marketing on new ideas and implementation of projects.  You will have a high degree of autonomy within the team and the wider technical community as you will be the expert in the area.  You will be key to shaping the future of Dale Farm products driving innovative, sustainable packaging and cost-effective solutions. 

It is essential that candidates have a minimum of 2 years FMCG experience in a similar role and are able to demonstrate experience with project management and have an understanding of; artwork and the packaging process and supply chain challenges, legislation and sustainability requirements. You will be confident communicating at all levels, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and have a diploma in packaging or in an equivalent related subject. Applicants must hold a valid driving license, be competent with IT, and be willing to travel to all our manufacturing locations.
