Student Placement Role- Temporary (Two Positions Available)
Dale Farm is Northern Ireland’s leading dairy company owned by a cooperative of 1,300 dairy farmers across Northern Ireland, England, and Scotland. Our farmers are Red Tractor approved ensuring Dale Farm products are produced to some of the most comprehensive and respected standards in the world.
Role Overview
Soil quality and nutrient status is key to producing high yields of grass for both grazing and cutting, and so knowing the status of your soils and correcting any deficiencies should be given top priority. An exciting opportunity has become available in the Dale Farm Farmer Services Team to work directly with our producers, to assist in the provision of soil sampling and nutrient advice to ensure compliance with Northern Ireland legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Corresponding with farmers, making appointments, and taking soil samples on farms
- Preparing samples and sending to the labs
- Keeping record of where and when samples were taken including cropping and manuring routines
- Opportunity to assist with nutrient planning advice and potential for follow ups to farmers
Essential Requirements
- Must have a full driver’s licence and vehicle insured for business (mileage allowance to be provided)
- Hard working and determined with an interest in dairying
Timeframe
As the project is time dependent, work must be carried out between December and February. The candidate must be prepared to travel as work is located across Northern Ireland. We would be looking at 2 roles for 3-4 weeks each.
Full training and equipment will be provided prior to commencement. The position is a paid temporary placement at as rate of £8.91/hour on a 37-hour week. Can be flexible with hours.
