Meteorological data for CAFRE Hill Farm

The UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology installed one of 50 UK top of the range weather stations at CAFRE back in 2016. It is part of a long-term network of soil monitoring sites for the UK, funded by NERC. The data is freely available to look up on the CEH website and covers over 30 parameters for weather, soil moisture and soil temperature.

The recent weather data presents examples of extremes of rain & dry periods which have consequences for the ecosystem services provided by the Hill Farm, particularly impacting biodiversity, water quality, and carbon emissions. (Note that 50mm of rainfall in 24 hours is classed as a 1 in 150 year event.)
